There are 7.7 billion people in the world. And while most people aren’t rich, a lot of people are still getting by financially. According to the World Bank, in 2017, 10.7% of the world’s population lived in extreme poverty. And that’s down from 12.8% in 2015. So while it’s difficult to become rich, it’s even harder to escape poverty.

Becoming rich requires luck and/or risk taking

Becoming rich is a combination of talent, hard work, and luck. And if you’re not lucky, or you don’t take risks, you'll probably never become rich. In other words, it’s near impossible to become rich by being a regular, run-of-the-mill person who goes about their life as usual.

Still, even people lucky enough to be born into a wealthy family may have no idea how to manage their money. And even among people who know how to manage their money, not all succeed in becoming rich. So being born rich isn’t enough to ensure you’ll stay rich.

Becoming rich requires knowledge, and most people don't have it

Many people think that becoming rich is a matter of trying hard, getting lucky, and then managing your finances well. But becoming rich requires you to have the knowledge to do all that successfully.

Most people in the world don’t have the necessary knowledge. They’re not aware of how becoming rich actually works. As a result, they never become rich. They don’t know how to manage their finances or take necessary risks.

You can always change your life by making better decisions

This might seem like a silly thing to say. But it’s also an important thing to understand. Many people don’t realize that they can change their lives by making better decisions. A lot of people think that they either have the circumstances they have, or they have no control over their lives.

They can’t change the hand they’ve been dealt. They don’t understand that the cards are in their hands. They can reshuffle the deck at any time and change their lives for the better. Becoming rich isn’t something that happens by accident. It takes careful planning and a good deal of effort.
